On an eroding Malibu beach, an MLB owner is accused of stealing sand
Briefly

"This case is about a private property owner using a public beach as their own personal sandbox," states the lawsuit filed last Thursday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court by Attanasio's next-door neighbor, financier James Kohlberg. Kohlberg accuses Mark Attanasio of stealing public sand and using it for a construction project at his home.
Attanasio's attorney, Kenneth A. Ehrlich, said in a statement to The Washington Post that his client has "acted in 100% compliance" with the construction permits and has been a steward for beach restoration.
Kohlberg claims the MLB owner's limited liability company, 2XMD Partners, and the construction team he contracted have violated their permits by digging into off-limits tidal zones with large excavators, leaking fuel into the water.
Ehrlich asserted, "2XMD is in the midst of a fully-permitted emergency repair of the property to protect it from ocean forces," indicating that the construction activities were legal and necessary.
