Justin Malik York, a 30-year-old man, was arrested in New York City for the murder of Ra'kel Olajuwan Kirtz, 26, shot on June 19 in Raleigh. He faces charges of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. Following his arrest, York will be extradited to North Carolina. A Wake County judge had previously issued an arrest order for him due to tampering with his ankle monitor and violating pretrial release conditions. York had pleaded not guilty to firearm-related charges in April 2024 and was awaiting trial.
