A New Hampshire mother allegedly killed her husband and two children and then died by suicide; a toddler was found alive and uninjured. Authorities identified the victims as Emily Long, 34; Ryan Long, 48; son Parker Long, 8; and daughter Ryan Long, 6. Autopsies showed the children died from single gunshot wounds to the head, Ryan Long died from multiple gunshot wounds, and Emily Long died from a single gunshot wound to the head. Investigators reported Emily Long took a handgun from the home on Aug. 18 and that police found the family after a 911 call. Recent videos show Emily Long discussing her husband's aggressive glioblastoma, his seizures and irritability, medication struggles, and her own depression and concern for the children. The attorney general urged against attributing the event to a single cause or stressor.
In recent videos posted to a now-private TikTok account, Emily Long spoke candidly about her husband's treatment for the aggressive brain cancer glioblastoma, including his seizures, increased irritability, and struggle to find the right regimen of medications.
"While investigators are becoming aware of various concerns/issues ongoing in the household at the time of the event in question, people should avoid speculating that this event was caused by a single reason or stressor," the AG's statement said.
In the early morning on Aug. 18, Emily Long "took a handgun from the home" and killed two of her children and husband before immediately killing herself, investigators said.
