Alex Reyes, 21, has been indicted for second-degree murder for allegedly running over 46-year-old Alexander Velasquez with his BMW in Brentwood. On June 22, Reyes reportedly attacked Velasquez with other men before hitting him three times with his vehicle while Velasquez lay on the ground. After fleeing the scene, Reyes was arrested by police the following day while driving the same car. He faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted and is being held without bail pending court proceedings.
"The defendant allegedly transformed his vehicle into a deadly weapon to carry out a violent and alarmingly fatal act," Tierney said. "This particularly dangerous escalation of violence is one our office takes very seriously."
Reyes allegedly killed Velasquez by running him over three times with his 2021 white BMW while Velasquez lay helplessly on the ground.
