Garber, highlighted the financial risks tied to deep cuts in research funding. They argued that interference jeopardizes the independence necessary for higher education to thrive, emphasizing the need to protect academic environments from political influence.
We must oppose undue government intrusion into the lives of those who learn, live and work on our campuses, the statement said.
The government's political interference and overreach is now endangering higher education in America, they wrote.
