Joshua Steven Riibe, the last person seen with missing college student Sudiksha Konanki, left the Dominican Republic after being questioned about her disappearance. Konanki, a University of Pittsburgh student, went missing during a spring break trip on March 6. Despite being questioned, Riibe was never considered a suspect. He indicated a desire to return to the U.S. after ten days of questioning and had his passport confiscated by local authorities before receiving a new one from the U.S. Consulate. Konanki's family believes she may have drowned.
