"A man is facing charges including motor vehicle homicide after his car was identified as the one involved in a Pittsfield hit-and-run crash that killed a man last week, prosecutors said. William Gross, 65, was arrested Monday. He allegedly hit William Colbert, 69, in Pittsfield's Linden Street/Franc Avenue intersection on Feb. 10, the Berkshire District Attorney's office said. After being struck, Colbert was pulled underneath the vehicle and dragged a "lengthy distance," the DA said."
"Colbert, a Pittsfield resident, was found dead near the Best Western Hotel in Pittsfield, and the driver of the car was nowhere to be found, Pittsfield police said. The hotel is around four miles away from the site of the initial crash. After an "extensive investigation," Gross was arrested without incident and is set to be arraigned Wednesday morning in Central Berkshire District Court, said the DA."
