Los Angeles houses of worship plan for possible ICE Raids
Briefly

Pastor Caleb Crainer has developed an immigration response plan for his congregation at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Los Angeles, following changing federal policies. This plan includes three pink binders that outline responses to immigration agents, including examples of official court orders and 'know your rights' materials. Congregation members have participated in role-play exercises to practice these responses. Many churches in Los Angeles are adopting similar measures to protect their members, focusing on understanding public and private spaces and the limitations of immigration enforcement actions.
"So we have three of these pink binders that are around the church... the step-by-step response to people presenting themselves as immigration officers includes examples of what official court orders should look like as well as 'know your rights' materials."
"As a church, you need to know where your public spaces are and where your private spaces are... ICE shows, they can go into any public space... But they are precluded from going into any private space without a warrant."
