Eileen Freiberg-Dale recalls her husband Barney as a passionate and energetic man, but after a serious bike accident in 2017 that caused a traumatic brain injury, he changed significantly. Upon returning home from rehab months later, Barney was angry, agitated, and unable to manage his daily activities. Freiberg-Dale experienced overwhelming stress from running their business and providing care for Barney. As she attempted to clear the leaves from their yard, which Barney used to manage, she felt immense pressure and fear about her abilities to cope with the new responsibilities.
"Barney had always been the one to take care of that and he could no longer do that," she said. One day, Freiberg-Dale realized that she was running out of time to deal with the yard.
"As I did that, madly trying to get them into bins and in bags, I was crying. I was stressed. I didn't know how I was going to do it all," she remembered.
