Inmate Captured in North Carolina After Escape

Authorities in North Carolina captured Ramone Alston, a convicted murderer who escaped custody, after an extensive search involving over 300 law enforcement officers from 19 agencies.
The escape occurred when Mr. Alston, shackled but having freed his leg restraints, fled into the woods immediately after the officers opened the vehicle door.
Jacobia Crisp, an acquaintance of Mr. Alston, was charged with felony aiding and abetting a fugitive as the investigation into his actions while on the run continues.
Mr. Alston, serving a life sentence for first-degree murder, faces additional charges of felony escape after being recaptured at a hotel in Kannapolis.
