An outbreak of listeria linked to Yu Shang Food products has led to the tragic death of an infant in California and hospitalizations of at least 10 others.
The CDC emphasized that the real number of affected individuals might be much higher as many people recover without seeking medical care or being tested for Listeria.
In California, two infant twins fell ill; while one died, only one fatality was officially counted because the bacteria was not detected in the second twin.
The USDA found listeria in Yu Shang Food products during routine testing, prompting a recall of over 72,000 pounds of potentially contaminated meat.
