Firefighters make progress on LA blazes, and alert system is changed
Briefly

Firefighters have made significant progress against almost all ongoing fires in Southern California, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, though gusty winds are expected to hinder further containment efforts this weekend.
As the state adjusts its alert and notification system, a significant investigation is underway to determine the cause behind the false evacuation alerts that confused millions and led to a crisis in communication.
Despite successful containment efforts, the overall destruction caused by the wildfires is severe, with more than 35,000 acres burned and over 12,000 structures, including homes and businesses, destroyed.
With the imminent threat of additional fire due to environmental conditions, ongoing search and rescue efforts will address the tragic loss of life, with at least 11 reported fatalities linked to the blazes.
