Four people tragically lost their lives and 17 others were injured when a semi truck crashed into stopped vehicles on I-96 near Lansing, Michigan.
The incident occurred on Saturday night as DTE Energy crews were stringing power lines; the expressway had been temporarily shut down, causing a traffic backup.
Witnesses claim the semi truck driver, hauling bananas, failed to notice the stopped traffic and could not stop in time, leading to the fiery crash.
The casualties included three family members from Lansing and a 29-year-old man from Carson City; the truck driver was hospitalized but had not yet been charged.
