President-elect Donald J. Trump was named Time magazine's person of the year for a second time, joining a select group that includes recent two-term presidents.
Mr. Trump, who had a contentious relationship with Time, stated after his first selection that it was a tremendous honor, yet criticized its portrayal of him.
Reflecting on his selection, Trump expressed that although he had lost the popular vote, he had not divided the nation, aiming for national healing.
In 2017, Trump claimed he could have won the title again if not for a refusal to engage in interviews or photo shoots, which Time disputed.
