Carl Dean, a private man and husband of singer Dolly Parton, passed away at 82. Parton shared the news on social media, expressing their deep bond over six decades. They met outside a laundromat in Nashville in 1964 and married two years later with a small ceremony. While Parton became a renowned star, Dean preferred a quiet life owning an asphalt-paving business. His absence from the spotlight often led to rumors about their marriage, which Parton consistently refuted, emphasizing the genuine love and life they shared together.
"Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years," said Ms. Parton.
"It’s just not who he is. He figured if he ever got out there in that, he’d never get a minute’s peace and he’s right about that," Ms. Parton remarked.
"So rarely did Mr. Dean enter the spotlight that at certain points rumors swirled that the two were not actually married," Ms. Parton noted.
"They think I just made him up," Ms. Parton said in a 2024 television interview discussing Mr. Dean's absence from the limelight.
