A major magazine filed a 94-page federal complaint in Manhattan accusing Google and Alphabet of monopolizing the digital advertising market through secret auction schemes, illegal tying, and deceptive practices that diverted millions from publishers. The filing alleges Google used dominance over publisher ad servers and its AdX exchange to force publishers into its ecosystem, shut out rival ad-tech firms, and depress the prices paid for online advertising. The complaint claims mandatory use of Google's DFP ad server for AdX access enabled advantaged trading on publisher inventory and likens the conduct to insider trading. Google denies the claims and says advertisers and publishers freely choose its ad tech tools because they are effective, affordable, and easy to use.
