Are immigrants still welcome in Mayor Eric Adams' New York City? We asked New Yorkers.
Briefly

New York City has long been known as a haven for immigrants, but recent collaborations between Mayor Eric Adams and the Trump administration are sparking concern about the city's welcoming nature. Historically a sanctuary city, New York is now shifting away from its immigrant-friendly stance. Adams, facing political pressures and amid corruption allegations, is aligning with federal immigration enforcement and promising cooperation with new policies that could lead to increased deportations. Community leaders, however, are fighting back, rallying to support terrified immigrant families struggling under the threat of raids.
The fear infects everything. People are worried about being out in public, doing even basic things like going to the supermarket.
Adams... has lately been warming up to the president: there was a dinner at Mar-A-Lago back in January, right before Trump's inauguration.
