14-year-old football star shot, killed in park near his California home
"That was like my brother, not by blood but by love," teammate Gavin Hernandez said. "I've known him since I was like 9, 10 years old... went to championship together, got a ring together, went to nationals."
"We would always be at practice together... doing our reps together. He was my partner for everything," said teammate Jacob Chavez."
"Tank is Tank," said Dominic Monica, a line coach. "He carried that name because of the things he does out on the field. He's just a great kid."
"My brother Jeremy is our everything... he's number 32 on the field but he's number one in our hearts forever," she said."
Fourteen-year-old Jeremy “Tank” Rosales, a straight-A student and accomplished youth football player, was shot and killed at Mojave Vista Park near his home. Friends, teammates, coaches and family remembered him as a loyal friend, hard worker and powerful athlete who helped his Team Elite Sports Academy win nationals. Hundreds attended a candlelight vigil where mourners released balloons and family members spoke through tears about his importance to them. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting, and no information about suspects has been released.
