This Republican Party is not the Republican Party of 2010. It's got some of the same constituent people, but who is in charge, and what issues come to dominate is totally different.
Consider the difference between House Speaker Paul Ryan and House Speaker Mike Johnson. Ryan's traditional conservative views clashed with Trump's populist ideas. Johnson was elected in 2016, at the same time as Trump, signaling a shift in party alignment.
