Trump Claims U.S. Has Left Iran's Military Alone

Trump said Iran’s Navy and Air Force are “totally gone” but added the U.S. “left it alone” because Iran’s military is “somewhat moderate.” He warned that wiping out a country’s forces can cause long-term inability to rebuild. Earlier, he posted on Truth Social that the U.S. completely destroyed Iran’s military, with leadership “DEAD,” and said the Strait of Hormuz would soon be open. On April 12, he told reporters Iran’s Navy was underwater and cited “158 ships” as gone. The latest remarks coincide with reports that Trump seeks tougher deal terms, including enriched-uranium delivery specifics and timing changes.

"Their Navy is totally gone, 100 percent. Their Air Force is totally gone, 100 percent. Their military, we've sort of left it alone because we think that their military is somewhat moderate. They have other people that aren't moderate. We've taken them out. We've taking different forms of leadership out. We've actually left their military alone."
