The New York Times picks up the shuttered FiveThirtyEight's poll tracking database
Briefly

When ABC shut down FiveThirtyEight, it left a significant gap in publicly available polling data crucial for journalistic and public discourse. Many organizations relied on this data for election coverage, leading to concerns over its disappearance. Fortunately, the New York Times has stepped in to continue this vital service by launching a new tracking effort for public opinion surveys, particularly focused on presidential approval ratings. They will maintain a similar format to FiveThirtyEight while ensuring the data is accessible and free with proper attribution.
Collecting and maintaining a database of public polls is a lot of work, requiring diligence, meticulousness, and dealing with constant complaints about edge cases from readers and pollsters.
Our goal is to ensure that this resource...remains updated long-term. The data will be made available free for anybody to use as they wish, so long as they provide attribution to The Times.
We are providing the data in about the same format as 538 did. There are some differences, which are noted at the bottom of this page.
