Opinion | Let's Try Something Different in How We Deal With Trump
Briefly

President-elect Donald Trump and the Republicans have positioned themselves as the party of change, gaining control of the presidency, Congress, and the Supreme Court while emphasizing the need for bipartisan cooperation.
As a Democratic member of Congress, I stress that while my party may resist Mr. Trump, it is vital to engage in finding compromise on key issues to effectively serve the public’s demand for change in areas like the economy and immigration.
While there are doubts regarding Trump’s willingness to cooperate due to his past actions and radical cabinet choices, fostering a spirit of negotiation is essential for both parties to avoid political gridlock.
The electorate seeks bipartisan solutions rather than a continuation of the political standstill, which is why Democrats should not simply oppose Trump but aim for constructive dialogue and collaboration.
