Democratic governors are adapting to President-elect Trump's incoming administration, balancing caution with their party's inclination to take a firm stand against his policies.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy stated, "It's a combination of fighting like hell if your values are attacked or if your innocent communities or innocent people are attacked."
Governor Kathy Hochul expressed her intent to find common ground with Trump on infrastructure while safeguarding reproductive rights, stating, "We rely on federal money, and he seems to share my priorities."
Hochul did not dismiss the question about potentially pardoning Trump in light of his hush money conviction, saying, "There is a pardoning process in the state of New York. It is lengthy."
