As I ran down the Mall, I couldn't help but reflect on the journey of my life. At 23, I was energized by the future; now at 60, I'm filled with memories and a sense of accomplishment, yet aware of the passage of time.
Standing at the Ellipse brought January 6, 2021, back to the forefront. It was surreal to consider how that day must have felt for those there, driven by grievances. In contrast, Harris’s speech that night was a reminder of hope and progress.
Harris’s speech transformed the narrative of that location from one of insurrection to one of hope. It showcased not just a celebration, but a significant moment reclaiming the space from Trump’s negative legacy.
The memory of running through D.C. years ago continues to inspire me. The juxtaposition of my younger self with my present is profound, as is the realization that broader societal shifts mirror my own personal journey.
