Windrush daughter can take case to Court of Appeal
Briefly

Jeanell Hippolyte, whose father is part of the Windrush generation, has been granted permission to appeal a Home Office decision denying her indefinite leave to remain. Her case stems from a lack of continuous residency since her arrival in the UK from St Lucia in 2000. Her legal team argues that her strong ties, such as family connections and the birth of her children in the UK, justify overlooking the continuous residency requirement. Ms Hippolyte feels the appeal is a crucial opportunity to correct what she views as an injustice.
As the underlying purpose of the continuous residency rule was to show "strong and subsisting ties" to the UK, the Home Office should have exercised discretion.
Ms Hippolyte expressed: "This appeal represents a chance to challenge what I believe was a serious injustice, and I am grateful for the chance to have my voice heard."
