Miliband emphasized, "I’m delighted to be here talking about how GB Energy, a new publicly owned energy company, is going to be headquartered here in Aberdeen." Discussing the government's investment, Miliband stated, "The UK government has pledged to invest 8.3bn in GB Energy - which will help fund new and existing clean technology. That is expected to be raised through a windfall tax on oil and gas firms." He alluded to significant challenges ahead, pointing out that the UK will face "difficult decisions" regarding public finances.
