Met Office reveals latest storm names see if yours makes the list
Briefly

The Met Office began naming storms in 2015, and with this being the 10th year of naming, Will Lang states, 'it works.' This helps clarify severe weather communication.
The official list for 2024/25 includes names selected from public submissions as well as historical names. 'James, Lewis and Mavis' are among the significant entries this year.
For a storm to be named, it must be forecast to cause medium or high impact. This naming is done in collaboration with the Republic of Ireland's Met Eireann.
Naming storms enhances communication about severe weather risks, making it easier for the public to understand forecasts and prepare for impending conditions.
