"Of course tube drivers are important for keeping London running smoothly (Letters, 11 September). But how about a mention for bus drivers who, when working hours and holiday entitlements are taken into account, earn about half of what a tube driver earns? Is driving a tube train really twice as difficult as driving a bus? Also, London bus drivers carry a million more passengers a day than tube drivers. Andy Smith London"

"Boris Johnson was paid 5m from 34 paid appearances (The Boris Files, 9 September). This is an average of 147,000 per speech proof that there's a lot of money in flannel, wiff-waff, waffle, bluster and blather. Toby Wood Peterborough Liz Truss's spokesperson has said that her claim for the public duty costs allowance relate to ongoing public duties (The Boris Files, 9 September).
