The Labour MP Kate Green is set to become deputy mayor of Greater Manchester after the incumbent, Beverley Hughes, announced she was stepping down.Hughes has been Andy Burnham's number two since 2017 but on Wednesday said she was departing the role.Green, the MP for Stretford and Urmston in Manchester, has been put forward as her successor.
