"From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging."
"Speaking before a pre-Budget rally on Thursday, which will mark a year since Ms Reeves' first fiscal event, Ms Badenoch said: Nobody voted for high taxes and out-of-control spending, but that's what they're getting from this weak prime minister. After her Budget last year, Rachel Reeves promised she was not coming back with more taxes'. But now that looks like a lie as she is gearing up to impose more punishing tax hikes."
Kemi Badenoch will urge Keir Starmer to sack Rachel Reeves if the chancellor raises taxes at next month's Budget. Rachel Reeves is widely expected to increase taxes to bridge a projected funding gap thought to exceed £20 billion. The prime minister declined to repeat Labour's manifesto pledge not to raise income tax, national insurance or VAT. Badenoch told a pre-Budget rally that voters did not choose high taxes and out-of-control spending and accused Reeves of breaking last year's promise by preparing punishing tax hikes. Shadow chancellor Sir Mel Stride is also expected to speak at the rally.
