Multiple vehicles collided on the Drum Road outside Cookstown, Co Tyrone in the early hours, involving a silver and a black Volkswagen Golf and a black Vauxhall Corsa. Five occupants of the silver Golf reported injuries at the scene. One occupant, Padraig McDonald, aged 20 and from Loughmacrory, died in hospital shortly afterwards. A boy in his late teens sustained life-changing injuries and a second teen suffered serious facial injuries. Injuries to the remaining two occupants of the silver Golf are not thought to be serious. St Teresa's GAA club paid tribute and noted McDonald's family links, playing honours, volunteering, and community support.
