A woman in her 30s suffered a serious neck injury in a stabbing on Smallbrook Queensway in Birmingham city centre shortly before 9pm on Friday. She remains in hospital in critical condition. A man in his 20s was arrested near the scene and is currently in custody. Police believe the attack was unprovoked and are working to understand why it happened.
