Patrick Verry, a 33-year-old man with no permanent home, was arrested in Wood Green, London, for attempting to steal drinks from a Greggs store. Undercover officers apprehended him as he tried to conceal the items in a bag. Verry’s dismissive attitude during the arrest turned into an apology as he was taken into custody. He soon pleaded guilty to six counts of theft at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court and received a ban from all Greggs locations across England and Wales as a consequence of his actions.
