Warning over baby slings after six-week-old died during hands-free' breastfeeding
Briefly

A coroner has issued a warning regarding baby slings after a tragic incident where a six-week-old boy died due to airway obstruction during hands-free breastfeeding.
There is insufficient information available from any source to inform parents of safe positioning of young babies within carriers and in particular in relation to breastfeeding, according to coroner Lydia Brown.
Despite attempts for resuscitation after the baby collapsed while being fed in a sling, he tragically died three days later, highlighting the potential dangers of such carriers.
The inquest revealed that the baby was positioned too far down in the sling, causing his airways to become obstructed, amid calls for greater safety guidelines.
