Tree crash victim named as Met Police officer
"PC Louie Day was killed on the A414, between Chelmsford and Ongar in Essex, in the early hours of Friday, 5 September. The 23-year-old worked as a response officer in Barking and Dagenham, east London, and was described as a "popular" colleague. "A beautiful soul has left this world and will be greatly missed by all who loved him," his family added in a tribute."
"Essex Police said its officers were "working to give them the answers they need about what led up to his death". Essex Police PC Day joined the Met's East Area Command in January, having spent two years as a community support officer. He was driving his Vauxhall Corsa when it left the road and struck a tree shortly before 03:30 BST. It was believed no other vehicles were involved in the crash."
PC Louie Day, a 23-year-old Metropolitan Police response officer, died after his Vauxhall Corsa left the road and struck a tree on the A414 between Chelmsford and Ongar shortly before 03:30 BST on Friday 5 September. He had joined the Met's East Area Command in January after two years as a community support officer and worked in Barking and Dagenham. It was believed no other vehicles were involved. Essex Police said officers are working to establish the circumstances and detectives have appealed for any CCTV or dashcam footage. Colleagues described him as popular and his family paid tribute.
