TikTok cuts threaten hundreds of UK content moderator jobs amid AI shift
Briefly

TikTok confirmed a global reorganisation of its Trust and Safety operations that will concentrate moderation work in fewer locations and shift roles from the UK to other parts of Europe. The company said the move reflects growing reliance on AI, stating that 85 per cent of rule-breaking posts are already removed automatically by AI systems. Affected London staff and hundreds across Asia can apply for other roles within TikTok and will receive priority if they meet minimum requirements. The Communication Workers Union condemned the cuts and warned about safety and worker impacts. The changes coincide with tighter UK regulation under the Online Safety Act.
