Temperatures set to soar to 30C across the UK
Briefly

The UK is forecasted to experience its first heatwave of 2025, with temperatures potentially peaking at 33C in southeast England by Saturday. This heatwave is attributed to an area of high pressure drawing warm air from Western Europe. Several regions are set to experience much warmer nights, with temperatures in high teens. The Met Office requires temperatures to exceed specific thresholds for three consecutive days to officially declare a heatwave, which appears likely over the weekend. A study indicates an increasing risk of 40C temperatures in the UK in the future.
Temperatures are set to reach 30C (86F) in parts of the UK on Thursday, with the heat expected to build steadily as the week goes on.
For a heatwave to be declared by the Met Office we need to reach a threshold temperature for at least three consecutive days, which is likely this weekend.
