"Robert was subjected to a brutal and sustained attack by a group of men armed with knives. He was unarmed, already wounded, and on the ground when Uwagboe attacked him. His claims of self-defence were entirely without foundation."
"Robinson suffered 12 serious stab wounds in the attack, including defensive injuries indicating he tried to protect himself from the blows, the Metropolitan Police said."
"He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years on Wednesday for the murder, as well as robbery and possession of a bladed article."
Jackson Uwagboe, 19, was convicted of murdering 21-year-old Robert Robinson during a knife attack on Carteret Way, Deptford, on 6 June 2024. Robinson suffered 12 serious stab wounds, including defensive injuries, and died at the scene. Three attackers ran from the scene and Uwagboe fled the country after the killing. He returned to the UK on 25 February 2025 and was arrested at Gatwick Airport on suspicion of murder. Uwagboe was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years and was also convicted of robbery and possession of a bladed article. Robinson’s family endured two trials due to the defendant’s flight.
