Shoplifting hits record high in England and Wales
Briefly

Shoplifting offences in England and Wales have risen to the highest level in 20 years, with over 430,000 incidents recorded last year, up by more than a third from the previous year. Retailer organizations believe these numbers are just a fraction of the actual incidents.
Recorded personal theft is also at its highest level since 2004, according to the latest ONS crime survey. Retailers, like Fiona Malone who lost around £26,000 to shoplifting, are investing in anti-theft technology to combat losses.
