Ali Alshmari, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene after being stabbed on Bridge Road in Alum Rock, Birmingham on Tuesday. A 32-year-old male was arrested in connection with the attack. Another woman suffered hand injuries but was discharged from hospital. The knife used in the attack was recovered and is being examined. Firearms officers attended as routine procedure for serious incidents involving weapons in public places. The incident is not terrorism-related. A nearby school was placed in lockdown following the stabbing. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses. Detective Superintendent James Munro stated the incident appears contained and urged the public to share any footage or information to aid the investigation.
