"I have learned with deepest concerns news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner. Authorities have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation. The law must take its course. It would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all."
"Thames Valley Police said later on Thursday that "the arrested man" had been "released under investigation.""
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on his 66th birthday and held in custody for around 11 hours before being released under investigation by Thames Valley Police. The arrest followed allegations that emerged after the release of files related to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. Searches at his Norfolk home on the Sandringham Estate have concluded, while searches at his former Berkshire residence, Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate, continue. He was photographed appearing drained and visibly shaken leaving Aylsham police station and later returned to Sandringham. King Charles expressed deepest concern, urged a full and fair investigation, and affirmed support and cooperation with authorities.
