Jonathan Peter Brooks, a plastic surgeon, was sentenced to life in prison for attempted murder and arson after he attacked fellow surgeon Graeme Perks. Brooks broke into Perks' Nottinghamshire home while wearing camouflage and attempted to set the place on fire. After Perks confronted him, Brooks stabbed him in the abdomen. The attack stemmed from professional rivalry, as Perks was a witness in a disciplinary hearing against Brooks. Convicted in April following a four-week trial, Brooks must serve a minimum of 22 years before being eligible for parole.
