Samuel Williams, a 20-year-old PPE student at Balliol College, Oxford, was arrested at an Oxfordshire address on October 15 on suspicion of inciting racial hatred. The arrest followed footage allegedly showing Williams chanting at a Palestine Coalition protest in Westminster on October 11. Balliol College has suspended Williams pending further information and investigation, citing the university’s power to take immediate and proportionate action when serious concerns arise. Metropolitan Police said officers made an arrest while probing chants filmed at the demonstration. Tens of thousands marched; Gazan health officials report over 60,000 Palestinian deaths since October 7, 2023.
