Conor McGregor received High Court permission to serve legal papers on Sky News UK and Sky News Ltd over an alleged defamatory remark made immediately after his trial. McGregor alleges a Sky News reporter called out to him "through a media scrum that he was a rapist" in the immediate aftermath of the trial. He was found civilly liable for the rape of Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel room following that trial. At the High Court, counsel Paul O'Higgins SC, assisted by Mark Lynam SC, successfully applied to Ms Justice Mary Rose Gearty to serve plenary summons papers outside the jurisdiction to the intended defendants.
