On Christmas Day, Jazwell Brown, 49, committed a horrific attack, stabbing his partner, Joanne Pearson, to death, and badly injuring his son and neighbor after using cocaine. Brown's rampage culminated in the death of 24-year-old Teohna Grant and a life-threatening injury to his 18-year-old son, Jake. The prosecutor described the assaults as unprovoked and highlighted the unhealthy, drug-fueled environment of Brown's relationship with Pearson, known for frequent arguments and drug use. The court proceedings revealed a deeply troubling pattern of violence stemming from the defendant's substance abuse.
The evidence suggests that the assaults were wholly unprovoked, committed by the defendant whilst he was under the influence of cocaine.
Ms Pearson was stabbed 31 times in the attack, while Ms Grant suffered five sharp force injuries, including a deep stab wound to the neck.
