After loading the tyres into their own HGV, they fled down the M6 motorway, initiating a high-speed police pursuit. During the chase, the lorry weaved dangerously through traffic and collided with a police traffic car, causing it to crash into the central reservation, though the officer sustained only minor injuries. The pursuit ended near Bradford, West Yorkshire, when the vehicle lost control. Dean Higgins received 27 months imprisonment for theft, driving whilst disqualified, and dangerous driving. Connor Barnett received 14 months for theft. Both were sentenced on 6 March.
