John Whaite rushed to hospital after being hit by a car
"Last night I got run over (seriously). I rolled up the bonnet damaging it and the windscreen, before splatting onto the road and crawling to the pavement where some angel of a human threw his coat around me and waited with me for an ambulance."
"The doctors said 'thank god you're 16 stone of muscle because it could have been fatal'."
"Moral of the story - build strong muscle and core strength, and don't wear black while crossing the road in the dark when an idiot comes speeding without looking..."
"I've been scanned and poked and prodded and l'm ok. Still gay though."
John Whaite, 2012 Great British Bake Off winner and Strictly Come Dancing finalist, was hit by a car and taken to hospital after the incident. He posted the account on his weightlifting Instagram profile @whaitelifter on 7 January, describing being run over, rolling up the bonnet, damaging the windscreen, splatting onto the road and crawling to the pavement. A passerby covered him with a coat and waited for an ambulance. Doctors said his 16 stone of muscle likely prevented a fatal outcome. He urged building strong muscle and core strength and warned about wearing black when crossing at night. He reported being scanned and prodded and is okay.
