Healthy life expectancy in the UK has decreased by over two years in the past decade, with a more significant decline for women. The UK has dropped from 14th to 20th among 21 high-income countries in this measure, with only the US ranking lower. The gap in healthy life expectancy between the most and least deprived areas of England is now 20.3 years for women. Women in poorer areas can expect around three decades of life in poor health, compared to about 13 years for affluent women.
