Police are investigating after a suspected gunshot struck the window of a black taxi with Private Eye editor Ian Hislop inside. The driver reported hearing a bullet impact as they were stationary in traffic on Dean Street.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed that they received a report of firearms discharge on Dean Street around 10:10am. Fortunately, there were no injuries to Ian Hislop or the taxi driver and an investigation is ongoing.
Ian Hislop has been the editor of Private Eye since 1986, a publication known for its sharp satire and critique of those in power, which may raise questions about potential motives for the shooting.
