Forgotten by the west, Syria's IS prisons are under threat as militant group mobilises
Briefly

The Panorama prison in north-east Syria holds around 4,500 suspected Islamic State fighters, including Muhammad Saqib Raza, who claims he was kidnapped. Six years post-ISIS caliphate, life for the detainees has not changed dramatically. The prison experience is harsh, with guards fearing for their safety and detainees remaining uninformed about international developments, including changes in leadership in Syria. Global governments, particularly the UK, Australia, and France, have largely abandoned these detainees by revoking citizenship, leaving their future in limbo as IS increasingly reestablishes itself.
Six years since the fall of the Islamic State caliphate, 4,500 men remain in Panorama prison, facing uncertain fates and a strict and isolated detention.
Muhammad Saqib Raza, a British-Pakistani doctor in prison, claimed he was kidnapped into IS-held areas and now seeks repatriation to the UK.
